But...what if? A Journal For Anxious People

Released April 14, 2021, this is my first journal. I have has anxiety my entire life and learned what works for me when it comes to managing and coping with it.

You can purchase physical and ebook versions of But…what if? on Amazon and the ebook on my shop page.

Description:

This is not a textbook or guidebook on how to live your life with anxiety.

I am not going to list symptoms or diagnose you or tell you how to change your life.

This is a journal. A journal for anxious people.

In it, you’ll find pages for writing random thoughts, what-if scenarios, and rants. There are no dates. You will face zero pressure to fill it out daily or meet some made-up deadline or quote. In fact, I purposely made sure there were NOT exactly 365 blank pages staring at you, demanding your thoughts. You don’t have to write about your anxiety at all if you don’t want to. You can do whatever you want with this journal. It will not placate or admonish you. It will not tell you that everything will be fine. It will not tell you that you will be okay if you just smile or just to “let things go.” It will not tell you that’s it’s all in your head.

This journal is a place to do whatever you want. It is a distraction, a place for coloring pages, fun facts, and general tips for dealing with life. You will find distractions, prompts, trivia, games, and a place to write whatever you want.

Book Reviews from Amazon readers:

“I love that this is just a useful journal and sketchbook for those with anxiety. It helps you work through situations – not try to ‘solve’ it like many of the books out there. It’s helpful and I think would be a wonderful tool for anyone of any age that has anxiety.” (5 stars)

“As a relative and friend of some people who suffer from anxiety, I’ve seen and heard about plenty of different approaches to managing it. One thing I’ve never seen before is a journal with a friendly voice! This book is more than what I was expecting. I thought it would include a bit of advice and then — since the book tells you up front that it isn’t going to try and force you into any kind of therapeutic activity you don’t want — a lot of (maybe pretty) blank pages. No! I was more than pleasantly surprised to find the author popping in now and then to offer genuinely caring encouragement, interesting mini-activities, and distractions including trivia even *I* didn’t know– and I’ve been a huge fan of “useless knowledge” for over 40 years. (tip: it’s not useless! it got you to think of something other than anxiety!). Very solid effort, done with love and care, from an author who’s been there and understands.” (5 stars)

I Love You Bigger Than All The Stars In The Sky

Published in February 2021, this is my first kid’s book. I have been wanting to publish one for a long time and the stars aligned this year! My first book of 2021 is a beautifully illustrated (thank you to the amazing and talented Linda-Fabienne Siegel – see her work at www.acosmoz.com) story of a little girl dreaming about what she wants to be when she grows up and teaches kids they can be anything they want and to stay true to themselves.

You can purchase physical and ebook versions of I Love You Bigger Than All The Stars In the Sky on Amazon and the ebook on my shop page.

Description:

Mommy and Daddy love their daughter bigger than ALL the stars in the sky. And even though they have their own dreams and wishes for their baby, they always tell her she can be anything she wants to be.

In “I Love You Bigger Than All The Stars In The Sky,” a little girl dreams and imagines all the wonderful, amazing things she can do and be when she grows up.

Book Reviews from Amazon readers:

A very sweet and cute book. Be yourself! The world is a better place because you are in it! I enjoyed reading it to my boys.” (5 stars)

“So many wonderful things about this book. The illustrations were well done. Especially the teddy bear! The artist style compliments the calm, yet encouraging tone of the writing. Perfect for bedtime. I love the fact the child is a little girl whose whole life is ahead of her and she has loving parents encouraging her from birth to be anything she can dream. Love truly is what nurtures children. Definitely recommend.” (5 stars)

“I was pleasantly surprised that this book features people of color. It is nice to see this in children’s books. Children need to grow up seeing and reading books that show them in it. Great storyline, you will change the world, the author already has!” (5 stars)

We Are Not Alone

This is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed You Are Not Alone, which was released by Sunbury Press in February 2019. Volume 2 book introduces 56 new stories and was published in October 2020. This series is a passion project which has taken me on a journey to meeting incredible survivors, people who are willing to share their experiences of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment as evidence that there is still so much to change in this world, and in many cases, stories of survival and hope.

You can purchase We Are Not Alone on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and on Sunbury’s website.

Description:

Inspired by #MeToo, together #WeToo now stand up, speak out, and be heard.

Victims and survivors of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment are no longer staying quiet, but are raising their voices to bring these atrocities to light in the hopes of making lasting change.

In You Are Not Alone volume 1, author Jyssica Schwartz showcased 56 people who volunteered to tell their personal stories of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment.

This second book has 56 brand new stories of survival from women and men who were willing to come forward, break their silence, and donate their experiences to start healing and help others who so desperately need to know they are not alone.

They are stories of the strength of survivors told by courageous victims who are not longer whilling to bear their experiences in silence.

It is time to see the writers of these stories as more than victims, but as who they really are: Survivors. Advocates. Mothers. Daughters. Sons. Friends.

Reviews of Volume 1 from Amazon readers:

“I thought the book would represent the tragedy and devastation of sexual abuse, but it really is the story of good vs. evil where not only is good winning, it’s blowing the evil away.” (5 stars)

“A page-turner that creates a sense of connection; there are parts of these stories that will resonate with everyone, revealing the scope, subtlety, and pervasiveness of the problem.” (5 stars)

“I love the fact that this book gives people like me a voice. Sometimes we just need our story to be told.”  (5 stars)

“Stories create an opportunity for us to relate to one another, connect, and humanize. And the stories in this book — diverse, and often heart-breaking — do just that. A great book and an important tool to help further our collective understanding of the magnitude of the movement.”

Book Review from author and writer Elizabeth Carlton

“Jyssica delivers well beyond what she promises in “Concept to Conclusion,” outlining the basic steps of writing a book from start to finish, and then feeding you tips on the essential and ongoing step of marketing.

This book was an incredibly fast and easy read. I was able to start and finish it in a single afternoon. Her writing voice is simple, straight-forward and engaging. There’s no fluff as Jyssica chops up useful and actionable advice into bite-sized pieces that are easy to understand and recall, from how to write a book to habits you can adopt that make the process easier. She also includes suggestions for resources (many of which I use myself!) that will save you a wealth of time and research.

As a professional writer and author, I found her advice to be spot-on. If you’re eager to write but stalled by uncertainty over where to start, definitely pick this title up. It makes for an excellent guidebook for entrepreneurs or budding writers looking to publish a nonfiction book.”

You Are Not Alone: True Stories of Sexual Assault, Abuse & Harassment From Around the World

Initially self-published and launched on March 14, 2018, You Are Not Alone is a passion project which has taken me on a journey to meeting incredible survivors, people who are willing to share their experiences of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment as evidence that there is still so much to change in this world, and in many cases, stories of survival and hope. Many of the contributors found the writing process cathartic – as I always have.

In February 2019, this book was republished and released by traditional publisher Sunbury/Brown Posey Press. You can purchase it on Amazon, at Barnes & Noble, and on Sunbury’s website.

The second volume, We Are Not Alone, was published October 2020.

Description:

Inspired by #MeToo, together #WeToo now stand up, speak out, and be heard.

In the wake of the #metoo movement, times are changing. Victims and survivors of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment are no longer staying quiet, but are raising their voices to stand up, speak out, and use their truth to bring these atrocities to light in the hopes of making lasting change.

This book has 56 stories from women and men who were willing to come forward and donate their experiences in order to break their silence, start healing, and help others. The stories come from contributors as young as 14 years old to as old as 72.

They are stories of survival. They are stories of the depths to which some people go, uncaring of how they affect others or whom they hurt. They are stories of predators and victims.

These are victims who are no longer willing to bear their experiences in silence.

It is time to see the writers of these stories as more than victims, but as who they really are: Survivors. Advocates. Mothers. Daughters. Sons. Friends.

Book Review from Dr. Paul L. Hokemeyer, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist:

“In a world haunted by aggression, violence, and betrayal, ‘You Are Not Alone’ serves as a campfire around which we can gather, united in our commitment to alter the trajectory of sexual violence and reclaim the dignity of our lives. It illuminates the resilience of the human beings who’ve lived through the trauma of sexual violence and inspires all of us to become more evolved and compassionate in our intimate connections.”
